Another great day at AEMS!  The students started off the day doing some independent reading.  I worked with a few students who were reading the same book, A Star in the Dark (I think that was the title).  Each student took turns reading a page of the book (and they were all very good!) until we had finished a chapter.  After we finished our chapter I switched gears and helped a girl who needed a little more help while reading about rocks and minerals for a research project that the class is starting in a few days.  The final girl I helped (Emma) was reading a book definitely above her grade level (a young readers version of Hidden Figures)... and she read it like it was easy for her. It reminded me just how tough our language is and how much I struggled on the same things when I was their age! Then they went off to art/music (and Mrs. Hildebrand had to leave for a little while) so I went back to school and continued researching measurement on Brainpop and Khan Academy to figure out the best activities for the 2nd graders.  I then went back to school for their math class after they
